Before you sort any change of address, you need to make sure the right meter is being billed. If the MPAN on your electricity contract and the MPRN on your gas contract match the meters at your address, the correct meter is being billed. This means you’ll need to get in touch with your supplier to change the address.
Once you’ve let your supplier know, they can ask for the information on the national database to be changed.
It’s probably worth checking your details with Royal Mail too. This will help make sure that your contract and any other letters from your energy supplier get sent to the right address.
The quickest way to find your contract start date is to check the welcome email from Bionic. This will be sent on the same day you sign your contract.
Remember to check your junk folder. If it is in your junk, mark it safe so no more emails from Bionic end up there.
If your start date has already passed but you’ve not heard from us or your supplier, please get in touch with us on Live Chat. This is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
If you sign a new energy contract while your existing one is live, this new contract will start as soon as your current one ends.
If your current contract has ended and there are no objections from either supplier, it should take 30 to 35 for your new contract to start. This is because of the process suppliers must go through when applying to take over an energy meter.
We’ll do everything we can to speed things up, but if you’re not under contract with your current supplier, you should expect your new contract to start about a month after you’ve signed it.
If it’s been more than 35 days and your contract still hasn’t started, get in touch with us using Live Chat. This is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Business energy contracts are legally binding. Once you’ve signed, you can’t usually cancel or amend the contract terms.
Unlike domestic energy contracts, business energy contracts have no cooling-off period. You’re committed to your new contract as soon as you sign it.
This is standard practice across the business energy industry.
A contract might be cancelled if an error in the setup process can’t be put right. But this is rare and the decision is made by the supplier(s) involved.
It’s important to make sure you’re happy with the terms of your energy contract before you sign.
Business energy contracts are legally binding. Once you’ve signed, you can’t usually cancel or amend the terms. This also means your supplier is committed to supplying energy at the rates you agreed.
Price volatility in 2022 saw prices rise and fall sharply. This was a very unusual situation. Prices usually increase gradually over time, meaning you could pay less by fixing your rates.
Fixing your rates is also the only way to protect against price volatility and usually protects against price rises. But it does come with the risk that you could pay higher rates if prices drop.
When you sign your contract, you’re given the option to download a copy. Don’t worry if you didn’t do this, we will have a copy that we can send to you. Please contact our Customer Service Team.
No, there is no price cap on business energy rates. It only applies to domestic rates.
Business energy is different to domestic energy. There’s no price cap and no cooling-off period, so you need to be sure you’re happy with your contract before you sign it.
If you need to give a meter reading, you can usually do this in your account on your supplier’s website.
If you can’t log in or you’re struggling to give your supplier a meter reading, one of our experts will be happy to help. Get in touch by Live Chat. This is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
The main reasons for getting a bill from your old supplier are:
Your old supplier has sent a final bill. This is for any money you owe on your old contract. You’ll need to pay this as it’s the charge for the energy you used while you were with your old supplier.
If you need a smart meter fitting as part of your new contract, your supplier will usually be in touch at some point before or shortly after it starts. Suppliers often use third parties to install smart meters, so a different company might get in touch to arrange the fitting. If you’re unsure, check with your supplier before agreeing to any installation.
This should be fitted within 90 days (about three months) of your contract starting. If your contract hasn’t started yet (or has only just started) there’s no need to worry.
We only need your postcode to get started. We’ll then take a few more details to find the right quotes for your business.

You can compare business energy quotes whenever you’d like. But you can’t usually sign a new contract until there are no more than ten months left on your current one.
It’s important to line up a new contract to start when your current one ends to make sure you’re not placed on your supplier’s more expensive out-of-contract rates
When you sign a new energy contract, it’s legally binding and there’s no cooling-off period. That’s why you need to make sure you’re completely happy with the rates and terms before you sign.
